HR professionals regularly tell me that they are focused on employee attraction and retention. Interestingly, when I ask about their employee communication strategies they seem to rank low as a priority.
Is it possible to attract and retain good staff without a core focus on regular (and relevant) communication? The answer seems obvious however the truth is that most organisations are afraid to recognise or act on inadequacies within their staff communication strategies.
Powerful enterprise 2.0 employee communication applications are readily available however business has stalled to embrace them. Perhaps because the utilisation outcomes seem ambiguous. Perhaps because increases in staff retention has not, as yet, been scientifically linked to communication.
It's time for business leaders to investigate a Social Business Software or Enterprise 2.0 solution in reference to their specific communication issues. Why is now the time?
Because social business software applications take time to seep into the corporate fabric. Initiating pilots, gaining employee adoption, defining outcomes and developing a strategy is a measured and progressive process.
The companies that wait too long will surely lose the competitive advantages and at best, play catch-up.
